Obituary

Mahnke, William, N. Passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007, after a long battle with cancer, at his home in Buffalo City, WI, age 62. Son of the late Norman Mahnke and the late Ann Mahnke Piccioni (Frank). Loving husband of Karen Barachy-Mahnke (nee Smits). Loving father of Lisa Mahnke, M.D., Ph.D. (Kyle Nelson, M.D.). Loving stepfather of Rachelle Barachy (Chris Bucki), Jeffery Barachy (Victoria), Gregory Barachy (Jennifer), and Anthony Barachy (Krissi). Adored as Grandpa Bill by Andrew, Kendall, Aaron, Nathan, Dominic, Antonio, Micah, Sammi, and Lauren. Brother of Diana Hubing (Al), Jack Mahnke (Barbara) and Robert Mahnke (Bonnie). Brother-in-law of Patricia Smits, John Smits, David (Dee) Smits, and the late Mary Langenegger (George). Also survived by many relatives and friends. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Funeral Home SATURDAY FEB. 10th, 11 AM-1 PM. A Service of Remembrance will take place SAT at 1 PM. Bill was born and raised in Milwaukee, with summers on Okauchee Lake. A graduate of Milwaukee Boys Technical HS, he worked over 30 years as a carpet installer. He lived in Bay View, vacationed in Wabasha, and retired with loving wife Karen to Buffalo City, gardening and enjoying the river community. An avid sportsman, Bill was passionate about hunting and fishing, had been a member of the Cudahy Gun Club, was recently with Alma Gun Club, and was adored by his trusty black labrador, Jack. He lovingly encouraged daughter Lisa, a graduate of the UW-Madison School of Medicine. He was a support and mentor to many, especially Tony. A true friend, Bill will be missed by all.
