On April 10, 2026, William Henry Holaday III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born on July 19, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio, Bill lived a life rich in experiences, dedication, and love.

Bill was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, earning his PhD in Art History, which was a fitting foundation for his lifelong devotion to creating unique and beautiful visual art. His education paved the way for a fulfilling career as a college instructor at Bemidji State College (now University), the University of Houston, and the University of Wisconsin at Superior. Bill was also a long-time high school teacher within the Milwaukee Public Schools, where he primarily taught physical science, chemistry and physics, as well as art toward the end of his career. He inspired countless students with his passion for both science and art, nurturing a generation's creativity and appreciation for the natural beauty of the world. His profound impact on the lives of his students extended well beyond the classroom, as he mentored many and fostered a sense of community among those fortunate enough to learn from him.

A devoted family man, Bill is survived by his cherished wife, Doris Gaeth Holaday, and their children: Dana Holaday Washburn, accompanied by her husband, Larry Washburn; Krislyn Holaday-Wondrachek, with her husband, William Wondrachek Jr.; and Neil Holaday, alongside his wife, Jenell Holaday (née Menge). Bill took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Ryan Holaday, along with his wife Stephanie Holaday (née Bernier), Brandon, Madeline, and Noah Washburn, Kyle and Logan Holaday, Sophena and Samuel Wondrachek. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the joy and laughter they brought into his life.

In honor of William Henry Holaday III's life and legacy, a memorial visitation will be held on April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3200 S. Herman St., Milwaukee. Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at noon, celebrating his life and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of many.
