Wayne Ervin Oberlander, age 77, of Franklin, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Born on April 5, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, Wayne spent his early childhood in Milwaukee, where he became a dedicated member of his community. He graduated from Boys Tech High School and proudly earned his Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Wayne's career in pharmacy began at Family Hospital in Milwaukee, where he demonstrated a commitment and compassion in his work, also this is where he met his wife, Helen. He concluded his professional journey as a Pharmacy Director at Walgreens Home Care, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and care in the pharmaceutical field.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Helen (nee Sweet) Oberlander, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He was a loving father to Faith Marie (Jeff) Smith and Joe (Patti Haas) Oberlander, and a proud Opa to his grandchildren, Rodney Wayne Smith and Ruby Rose Maxine Smith. Wayne also leaves behind his sister, Peggy Davis, and brother-in-law, Herb (Karen) Sweet, along with many other family members and dear friends.
An avid golfer and member of the Oakwood Men's Club and Brown Deer Seniors. Wayne found joy in the outdoors and enjoyed the opportunity to coach his children's sports teams. His passion for family was evident in his unwavering support (he never missed a game!) for watching his children and grandchildren as they pursued their own interests and passions. Wayne was a strong supporter of the Packers and Brewers and is now enjoying the games from the best seat.
Memorial Visitation at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home, 6080 S. 27th St., Milwaukee, on Thursday, October 22, 2026, 4:00-6:00 PM. Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice are appreciated. As we remember Wayne, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, his sense of humor, and love for family and friends.
