Warren W. Bill Emery Monday, June 18, 2018, age 77 years. Partner in life and in work of Phyllis McDonald. Son of the late Warren Brinton Emery and late Marjorie Kropp Emery. Brother of Michael F. (Mary MacDougall) Emery and Patricia (Thomas) Kandziora. With Nancy Read Emery he was the father of Charles B. Emery and Daniel M. ( Melissa Denil ) Emery. Proud Grandfather of Alec Read and Jack Robert Emery. Gruff Uncle of many; Hard Taskmaster to many others. Crewmate, Captain and Critiquer of Everything. Bill was a proud US Navy Veteran, a life member of the South Shore Yacht Club and member of the Island Goats Sailing Society. His drive for excellence forced many to distraction but also well on their way to that shared goal. The list of yachtsmen, their boats, ports, and races where he left his mark is long and illustrious. Longer yet the sailors he helped, impressed or indoctrinated to the proper way. Each and every encounter benefited from his dedication, knowledge and invention. Bill was a decisive man with the Get er Done attitude. Subtlety was not in his wheelhouse. There was no gray in his opinions, no hesitation in his calls. And when he complimented you, you knew you had earned it. He left this life as he lived it, telling those around him just exactly how he wanted things done. Farewell, my captain. Farewell.
