Vladimir, now Walter, was born in Bela, Czechoslovakia and came to the United States at age 5. He grew up and attended the public schools in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he learned to play violin and eventually played in the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra. Walter served in the U. S. Army as a medic during WW II in the European theater and attended the University of Wisconsin where he received his Bachelor's Degree, majoring in statistics. He then worked for the City of Kenosha where he met his first wife Betty. They were married and moved to Milwaukee, where he went to work for the City of Milwaukee for 34 years, the last 17 as Deputy Budget Director for the city under Mayors Ziedler and Maier. Walter and Betty raised three daughters together and were married for 37 wonderful years. After being widowed for eight years he married his second wife Rita. Walter had a great love of family, music, his country and his God. His favorite hobbies were his lawn, his roses, and his yard! The family enjoyed many memorable celebrations at his home, eating his carefully prepared meals, talking up a storm, and playing numerous hotly contested pool tournaments. We were even blessed with the pleasure of celebrating his 85th birthday early in November in his own kitchen. His family will dearly miss him and we love him a lot.
