Obituary

Scholz, Virginia Margaret (Ginny) passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 85 at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. She was born on August 28, 1937, in a West Bend, Wisconsin hospital the second of four daughters born to Waldemar and Flora Scholz. She was raised on the family farm in Fredonia, Wisconsin and graduated from Port Washington High School. She then graduated from the University of Milwaukee with a teaching degree and later received her masters degree from the University of Milwaukee. She taught second grade at Cedar Hill Elementary School in Oak Creek for 38 years and retired at the age of 60.

She was a member of Our Father's Lutheran Church where she attended bible class regularly for decades and lived an authentic and caring life. She touched many with her kindness, her generosity, and positive loving approach to life, helping and taking in those in need and shepherding her family through difficult challenges and painful losses, always ready to help others. Deeply loved by her family, she helped them maintain connections with each other, hosting family gatherings well into her retirement. She loved to travel which took her all over the United States to visit family and friends and to Europe, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, and South America. She spent her retirement volunteering in residential nursing facilities until she was 80 years old. She also trained to become an amateur clown (Anut GinGin) so she could continue to bring joy to children and took up quilting, carrying on a family legacy of crafting loving gifts for new babies, new unions, and other special occasions (and often just because). She had a lifelong love for reading, particularly mysteries, for puzzles, and especially for playing games, teaching her nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews many board and card games (Tripoley, hearts, and sheepshead in particular) and participating in long running sheepshead and bridge groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Gloria Behling and Pamela Beck. Survivors include sister Ruth (Walter) Pelican; seven nieces and nephews, James Jr. (Gloria) Behling, Kenneth (Jodie) Behling, Deborah (Nate) Thompson, John (Elena) Hetts, Rebecca (Craig) Rieber, Jessica Hetts, and Anna (Travis) Becker, fourteen great nieces and nephews and three great-great nephews; and other relatives and so many friends.
