East Troy - 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by three of her four children, Chad (Barb), Sean, and Erin (Jay) McInnes, a brother, Frank (Pam) Lanza, stepmother Bea Lanza, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, a son, Martin (Monica), parents, Ralph Lanza and Marlene Cheyne (nee Hoffman).
She was born December 10, 1941, in Seattle, WA, and was united in marriage to the love of her life, Tom, on February 14, 1959. She began her work career at Curtis Development, then Kohl's Food Store. She then started her own business creating and selling macramé that led to teaching the art at MATC. She ultimately found her calling in the sale of unique and unusual antiques/art from around the world. She had several store fronts over the years, with notable locations in the heart of downtown Milwaukee in the 1990s, and Lake Geneva in the early 2000s, under the name Valerie's Gallery of Art and Antiques.
Val was a remarkable woman with a strong, larger than life personality, an infectious smile and booming laugh. It was impossible to be unhappy in her presence. She left a lasting impression on every person who ever had the pleasure of meeting her. She never met a stranger, only fellow humans who were soon to become her friends. Anyone who ever met her will testify to the sheer impossibility of forgetting her.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:45 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue in Hales Corners. Memorial Mass at 4:00 PM. If desired, memorials may be made in Val's name to St. Jude Hospital for Children.
