Obituary

Ursula Apiecionek of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on November 28th 2023. She was born Ursula Anna Schneider on February 19, 1934, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, and was the beloved daughter of Otto and Maria Schneider (neé Limbach). She grew up in Germany during the Second World War, and in 1955, she embarked on a new chapter in her life, immigrating to the United States where she worked as an au pair in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and would meet and later marry, Josef Apiecionek, an immigrant from the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany. Before retiring to Florida, Ursula excelled as a bi-lingual legal secretary at a major downtown Milwaukee law firm, where she was greatly valued for her ability to communicate with the firm's German clients in their native language. Following Josef's passing, Ursula moved back to her homeland Germany for ten years to travel and spend time with friends and family.

Ursula loved reading, most often murder mysteries and history, and would typically finish a novel within a few days. She enjoyed games, especially Rummikub, and German crossword puzzles. A talented baker, her specialties were apple and cherry Kuchen. She was a frequent traveler, often visiting family in Germany, and other European countries, or taking an adventure to ski with her family in Colorado or visit the sunny beaches in Florida, Jamaica, and other Caribbean islands. She led an active lifestyle, enjoying biking, tennis, hiking, and Nordic walking. However, Ursula's greatest joy in her life was her daughter Barbara (Jascha) Walter, and her three grandsons, Alexander, Stefan, and Aidan, who would frequently visit her at her homes in Punta Gorda, Florida and Steinheim an der Murr, Germany.

Ursula is preceded in death by her loving husband Josef Apiecionek of forty years, as well as her parents Otto and Maria Schneider, and older brother Werner (Inge) Schneider. In addition to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons, she is survived by her younger brother Erhard (Marge) Schneider of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Godson Michael Sauereisen, as well as several other cousins and relatives.

Family and friends are invited to gather on January 5th 2024 at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home, located at 3275 South Howell Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53207, beginning at 4:00PM CST to pay their respects and a celebration of Ursula's life will begin at 6:00PM  CST. A reception will follow at Crafty Cow. In memory of Ursula Apiecionek, the family kindly requests donations be made to either the Milwaukee German Immersion Foundation or the Wisconsin Parkinson Foundation.

Ursula was a brave person that was always positive and kind. Her warm heart and caring nature touched the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she leaves behind will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
