Susie was a talented seamstress who studied fashion design in Japan. In her earlier years she became well known for her work as costume mistress for the Skylight Opera Theater under Clair Richardson. She fully costumed the "Operetta from Vienna" casted at the Performing Arts Center in the early 70s. Many times she completed costumes in the car on the way to the theater on opening night. At the Skylight one of her major efforts was Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado. The entire costuming was designed and hand sewn by Susie and she was featured in a Milwaukee Journal article titled ,"Gilbert and Sullivan and Susie". She went on to manage the alterations department for over 30 years at Zita's on Astor until that store closed in June of 2005. She was personal seamstress to Jane Bradley Pettit, who was the proprietor of Zita's.
Susie was a longtime member of the St. Augustine Ladies Society and assisted at St. Augustine School when their six children attended grade school. She also assisted at the church Fish Fries as well as other fund raisers with her husband and other family members.
Susie will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who she touched throughout her life.
