Obituary

Akers, Tilhie "Toots, Tootsie" (nee Heinzel) April 8, 1918 November 8, 2014 Passed quietly in her sleep in her new home in Crivitz, WI. Tillie was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI but spent the last 50 years of weekends and vacations in Crivitz. When Pat and Sharon retired to Crivitz she didn't want to make that move, unfortunately when Pat was diagnosed with cancer Sharon couldn't get to Milwaukee to help her with her everyday needs so she agreed to move in with us. In the 3 years Gram was here she got to enjoy nature and wildlife- She saw Pappa Bears (Big Ones), Mamma Bears and bear cubs, Does with fawns and Bucks with antlers, Turkeys by the dozenToms, hens and "Jakes". Spring brought many colorful birds especially the many varieties of woodpeckers. One winter a Badger took up residence under the house. Pat would fill in the hole he dug and look out the window and watch him scoop that hole open again- He was not leaving! Gram enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching the fish in the small pond, listening to the pond waterfall and listening to the birds and the many chimes hanging from the trees. In the summer when the garden was growing you could bet she would be the one to pick the first ripe tomato and she always found the first cucumber hidden in the leaves- and we cannot forget the "eats". She inherited Phil's cat "Beast" when he passed but he was not a "beast". We called him Beasleg- The other cats, Grandpa, Baby, Punkin and Blackie all seemed to like her bed and one would always be sleeping with her. There are 5 outside cats and we all had to "stay strong" so as not to let them become house cats. Gram was great at the Journel crossword puzzle and could play Scrabble with the best. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her sister Goldie and friend Jane. She wished her sister Catherine would enjoy this but that wasn't to be so she enjoyed her company. At the family gatherings she really enjoyed Yahtzee and Farkel awith Mike and Corrine. Gram was preceded in death by her husband Phil, son Phillip and the long ago loss of daughter Sandy and son Tommy. Also her brothers Matt, Al, David, and Paw and sister Mavis. She is survived by daughter Sharon (Pat), grandchildren Corrine and grandson Michael. Also granddaughter Lorrie and great grandson AJ, sisters Catherine, Goldie, Judy and Lois, many In-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to Jenny who helped whenever possible and to Unity Hospice for their care of Gram. Gram couldn't understand what was keeping her alive so long when she was so ready to join those who had gone before. On Friday she said she was "at the gate". I encouraged her to go through. She said she loved everyone and sent her love and kisses and hugs. On Saturday she passed through. Gram will be greatly missed but she was so ready to go. She does not want any flowers but would like contributions to the Wisconsin Humane Society or the charity of your choice. Prasser-Kleczka Bay View Chapel 3275 S. Howell Ave. 414-483-2322
