Thomas was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947 to George and Eleanor Rynne, who raised three sons that excelled
at sports and academics. Thomas attended Oak Park River Forest High School before earning a scholarship to
play football at Western Michigan University, finishing his bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois in
Psychology. He worked as a Sales Engineer at numerous foundries in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Thomas met his soon to be wife, Margaret in 1967 at Margaret's parent's home in Oak Park. Thomas' brother
Terrence was courting one of the Milne sisters at the time, and Thomas and Margaret serendipitously met.
Thomas transferred to Margaret's Alma Matter, the University of Illinois, to continue their courtship, and the
two were married in August of 1969 at the Milne residence in Oak Park.
Thomas and Margaret started their family when Jonathan was born in July of 1970. The family lived on Mason
Street in Chicago, until moving to the western suburbs.
Thomas had a soft spot for dogs, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Mac,
Penny, and now Bella were, and are, treasured companions to the family.
Thomas had many lifelong friends, and made new friends easily. From high school to the MG club, the
Volkswagen club, neighbors, and business associates, Thomas' wit and humor attracted others into his
companionship.
Thomas was passionate about his profession as a sales and metallurgical engineer at numerous metal foundries
in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. Working as part of partnership of sales representatives, the SASHA
Company, in the Northeast for numerous years.
Everyone who knew Thomas knew how much he loved rebuilding and restoring vintage British cars and
Volkswagens. From MG A's, B's and Midgets to Triumphs and Volkswagen Beetles, Thomas would turn
vehicles that came as baskets of parts into beautiful works of art. He meticulously restored these sports cars to
their former glory, often being praised at car shows and club meetings.
Thomas will always be remembered for his big personality and his generous nature. He crafted gifts for nieces
and nephews, tested his brother in laws with his inventions, and was the first to help his family and neighbors
with their projects. Thomas will be missed by all who loved him every day.
Thomas was preceded in death by George, Eleanor and Terrence Rynne, and is survived by Margaret and
Jonathan (Josephine) Rynne.
