IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Suzanne Catherine
Zastrow
July 7, 1948 – April 21, 2025
Suzanne Catherine Zastrow (nee Lucchesi), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025. Sue's gift of learning, her love of music and gardening, and her passion for nursing will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A devoted mother, Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Tracey Scheffler (Brian) and Gina Zastrow, and her grandchildren: Taylor Walsh, Kennedy Walsh, Zachary Walsh, and Reese Scheffler. She is further survived by her siblings , Michael (Jeanne Schrank) Lucchesi, Joseph (Christina) Lucchesi, Gina (Ron Hayek) Lucchesi , Louis (Brandy Glass-Lucchesi) Lucchesi, and Mary (Michael) Engelbart along with many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lane Zastrow, her sister, Annemarie Breske and her parents Albert and Anne Lucchesi.
Born on July 7, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Suzanne was the daughter of Anne and Albert Lucchesi. She married Lane Zastrow on January 20, 1968, in Milwaukee, and together they shared 55 years of marriage filled with deep love, laughter, and travel. Suzanne earned her nursing degree in 1976 from Onondaga Community College and spent her life working in a profession that was her passion. She found joy in music, flowers, reading, sewing, cooking, gardening (especially flowers) and traveling. Suzanne was an outstanding seamstress and often made Halloween costumes for her daugheters and grandchildren. She loved traveling with her husband, making memories across the globe visiting places like Hawaii, Europe, Africa and New Zealand.
With deep sadness, Suzanne's sister, Linda Lucchesi, passed away September 13, 2025. Suzi and Linda are once again reunited. The two were roommates as kids and very close throughout their lives. As a family, we will honor their lives and remember them together on October 2nd.
Suzanne's legacy lives on in the lives she touched—with care, creativity, and unwavering love. Her family finds comfort knowing she is finally home, embraced by the peace she so richly deserves.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bella Groves and Hope Hospice. We are forever grateful for the joy, community, and compassion you provided as Mom walked home with grace. Your support and love will always be remembered.
