Susan M. Kafkas
(nee Schneider) Died peacefully surrounded by her family after a long illness on Sunday, June 21, 2026, age 79 years. Beloved wife of the late John Kafkas. Loving mother of Joe (Michelle) Herriges, Julie (James) Herriges-Kubash and Lisa Herriges-Ard. Awesome grandmother of Nolan (Mirlande), Isabel (Tyler), Andrew, Matthew, Kasey, William and Stephanie. Great-grandmother of Mauricio. Honorary second mother of Shelly Rudolph and Carrie St. Claire. Dear sister of Michael (Mary) Schneider. Preceded in death by her parents, Goar and Dolores Schneider; siblings, Julie Czerwinski, Gregory Schneider and Diane Bergeler. Further survived by her first husband and the mother of his children, Dean Herriges; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She will be missed by her beloved dog Napoleon.

Susan attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature. She worked for her husband as a legal secretary for many years. Susan did not slow down after retirement she continued working as a Food Service Associate, making many friends handing out samples at our local Kwik Trip. She was also a devote Christian who love to listen to K Love Radio station.

Visitation at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home, South Suburban Chapel, 6080 S. 27th St. Milwaukee, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 10:00am-12Noon. Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Private inurnment at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
