Johnson, Stewart R. found his final rest after a long illness on November 23, 2021, age 72. At age 17, Stewart proudly volunteered to serve his country in Vietnam and after two years came home a decorated Marine with two Purple Hearts. He further served the City of Milwaukee as a Police Officer for over thirty years and as a School Safety Officer for Milwaukee Public Schools for another ten. Stewart was a voracious reader and student of history and a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers. He counted among his greatest honors a trip to Washington, DC on a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. His greatest heartbreak was the loss of his son Mark, who died at age 17 after a valiant battle with cancer. Stewart is survived by Ellen, his loving, caring wife of 47 years. He is also survived by his son Randal and his wife Lindsay Johnson; daughter Kelly and her husband Matt Becker; and daughter Lisa and her husband Dave Fuerstenau. He is also survived by his grandchildren who were his absolute pride and joy, Myles Johnson, Logan and Grace Becker, and Hannah and Brooke Fuerstenau. Stewart is also survived by his four siblings, Jacqueline (Jim) Rudig, Laura Johnson, Patty (the late Tom Dishaw) Johnson, and Neil (Julie) Johnson. He is further survived by beloved aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Visitation Monday, November 29th, 2021 from 4PM until time of service at 6PM at Prasser Kleczka Funeral Homes, Bay View Chapel, 3275 S. Howell Ave. Milwaukee, WI. Stewart's family kindly requests that masks be worn for both visitation and service. Private burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
