Steven E. Morgan, age 74, passed away on October 16 th , 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Steve was born on December 23 rd , 1949, to the late Ellis and Lucy Morgan. He graduated from Brookfield Central High School and attended the University of Wisconsin system before beginning a career as a general contractor. Steve married the love of his life, the late Mary Bartness, on November 3 rd , 1984, in Milwaukee. They have two wonderful children, Rachel (Peter) and Jack (Jake).

In all things, Steve was a builder. Steve and Mary built their home in Bay View and loved each other deeply until her passing in 2017. He and Mary created a beautiful life together and spent countless hours laughing and adventuring. His dedication to her was unending. Steve loved his children and thoroughly enjoyed teaching them new things, from swimming to bike riding to judo. He spent many hours gardening and cooking with Jack, and he was an avid and early supporter of Rachel's interest in science.

Steve was a lifelong sailor, sailing on board Chance with the Milwaukee Yacht Club for over 20 years, including numerous Queen's Cups and Hook Races. He later sailed with Community Sailing before setting out on his biggest adventure, the Great Loop, on his houseboat. Steve loved spending time outdoors, with his dogs, and with friends and family, including long walks through Seminary Woods searching for nesting owls. He enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people, and he found home and community wherever he landed.

Steve is survived by his siblings Mary (Christy) and Bill (Sue); many dear friends, including Bob Kraus and Mary Stanley; and his beloved dog, Marge. He is preceded by many canine companions including Freddie, JP, Josso, Ponser, and Max.
