Shirley was a fun loving woman who found joy in helping others. She retired from a long career as a switchboard operator at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee where she was cool under pressure and dependable. A long time resident of Bay View, Shirley lived in later years at Layton Terrace in Greenfield, then in Madison with her daughter and son-in-law, and finally at the Capitol Lakes Health Center. Shirley loved the South Shore Water Frolics, Festa Italiana, going up north, fishing, and a night out with the girls. She loved to be outside and watch birds and other backyard wildlife. She could sit for hours listening to her favorite singer Andrea Bocelli. Mostly she loved to be with her family. She wanted us to be good to our neighbor - believing that what goes around comes around. Mom, the laughter and love you poured into the world will surely keep on going. We will miss you dearly. Thank you to the friends and caregivers who have helped Shirley enjoy these last years especially the staff of St. Mary's Adult Day Health Center, Madison, Danielle Valvassori, Carol Holden, Heather Poster, Pauline Veith and Wendy Hutton. In lieu of flowers, please spend some quality time with an elder.
