Dear sister of Marjorie (Erv) Check and the late Annette (the late Ed) Shaffer. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends. Visitation Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, 3-4 PM at Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church, 125 W. Saveland Ave. (2 blocks north of W. Howard Ave and 1 block west of So. Howell Ave.). Funeral Service at 4 PM. Private interment Highland Memorial Park. Rosemary lived her entire life on Milwaukee's south side having attended South Division High School followed by graduation from Milwaukee State Teachers College in 1942. Her degree took her into teaching kindergarten and the head start program. Her love and teaching small children brought her great joy and satisfaction. Her graduation minors included physical education, economics and her interest in biology led her to her life long love of birds and nature. In April 1944 she married Howard, whom she knew from her church and in 1952 and 1954 they adopted John and Marjorie to complete their family. They were married 43 years until Howard's untimely death in 1987. Rosemary wore so many hats but above all she was friendly. She became well known for her baking of bread, cookies and was a longtime member of the Wilsonaires Chorus. She baked for everyone and for every event. The mailman and the UPS man were grateful recipients of those fresh morsels. For her entire life, church and family were foremost including being a worship leader, deaconess and all-around 'get it done' person. She longed to teach, bake and knit and her knitting projects not only provided beautiful sweaters and mittens but produced a State Fair blue ribbon for an afghan that was featured in the Women's Day magazine of 1943. That afghan, though somewhat threadbare, was on her lap daily. After 54 years in her home, she moved to Howard Village in St. Francis to live out her days in its comfort and security. Her adventure away from home included their 120 acre retreat in Door County spending many weekends surrounded by loved ones and her last memories include two double rainbows in the same day. The life of this extraordinary woman has passed but so many wonderful memories remain. Who knew that this 5"11" natural beauty would leave such a lasting impression.
