He began electronics training at Milwaukee School of Engineering, but left to join the military, serving as a radar repairman in the Air Force from March 1960 to March 1966 in Greenland and then stateside with his wife in Illinois and Mississippi before settling back in Wisconsin. Over the years, Ronald worked in electronics, grocery stores, as a lumberjack, delivery driver and census taker. He also owned and operated a gas station in Hiles, Wisconsin.
Ronald was a Godly, caring man who enjoyed spending time outdoors, with family and friends, cooking breakfast, and studying the Bible. He also spent a lifetime serving in his church as an adult Sunday School teacher, church clerk, singing occasional duets with his wife, and in other areas of service. His hobbies included computer programming, walking/admiring God's beautiful creation, gardening, fishing, reading, miniature golf and tinkering around in the garage.
