Obituary

Robin Lee Rosentreter Wetherbee

Aug. 21, 1959-Sept. 14, 2025.

The End. Mine came after many months of bargaining with pancreatic cancer. I argued for

more time, of course, but my opponent was stubborn and stingy.

Once upon a time, when I was a young woman, someone asked me what I wanted from

life... to be rich? Famous? My answer, "I just want to be happy."

And so, I married the boy I loved, and we worked hard to build a life together. We bought a

cozy home that featured a shady yard and a delicious lake breeze. We made our family

there with two little girls (our greatest works!). We got them through childhood and their

teens and then college (without student debt!). They grew to be productive, strong, kind-

hearted women, as I had dreamed they would be when I was pregnant with each of them.

Each married a very fine partner and moved on to begin their families.

I retired from a job that engaged me, where I had worked alongside people I enjoyed.

We got a dog, a giant Samoyed we called Moki. And sometimes he came when we called.

He was 100 pounds of fur, quirk and stubborn. He walked us thousands of miles during his

six years with us... down on the lake path, to the park, throughout the seminary woods. He

expanded our world, introducing us to neighbors and our neighborhood.

Soon after, our daughters began having babies. I dubbed myself Gommy and learned more

about being a mommy from my daughters than I had ever known. The most important was

understanding the littles' rhythms, routines and very strong personalities were all so

different from one another and to roll with it. The second most important, you gotta get

down there on the floor with them to play; that's where all the action is.

And then, way too soon, my diagnosis. Although I'm sad to miss how everything turns out,

you can tell me all about it when we meet again. I know it'll feel like just 5 minutes since we

were last together. In the meanwhile, if you're looking for me, imagine me at the beer

garden, enjoying a pint of South Shore Amber; singing " A Bushel and a Peck" to my

grandchildren; presenting the elusive Silver Ladle trophy to a new chili champion; or

strolling through the dappled woods with Moki.

Takk for alt.

A Celebration of Life for Robin will be held at a later date.
