Bob passed away on October 12, 2023 at St. Lukes South Shore Hospital. Bob was born on January 17, 1931 in St. Francis, WI to Mathew and Margaret Weber. He was the sixth of seven children. Bob attended Sacred Heart Grade School in St. Francis and one year at Boy's Tech now called Bradley Tech.
On June 22, 1948 he started at the Ladish Company in Cudahy, WI. He was a die and trimmer repairman and retired August 31, 1991 after 43 years.
In 1949 he met the love of his life, Carol Burmeister while driving through Grant Park in South Milwaukee. The stone bench where they met is still there. Carol died on August 4th, 2000. They are finally reunited.
In 1951 he was drafted into the army and served until 1953. He served at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, Headquarters Service Aviation Battalion (SCARWAF). It was a special category of Army with Air Force.
Not long after Bob was done serving his country, he and Carol were married on October 17th, 1953. Before their first anniversary their daughter, Bonnie, was born and a year later, their second daughter, Debi, was born.
In 1954 he began his lifelong service to others when he joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society were he served for 68 years with the Holy Family Church and later the Nativity of the Lord. In the 1960's he helped out at Holy Family School by painting and also with bingo. He also belonged to the Christian Men's Society. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He celebrated 28 years with the Knights of Columbus this past June. He was also a lifelong member of Amvets Post 60.
When the family was young, they drove to California. They traveled along historic Route 66 all the way to Disneyland. They also vacationed up North with family, relatives and friends to fish and to have fun. Appreciation to niece, Bobbi, for all the time spent with both Bob and Carol through the years. Bob loved all the Marilyn Monroe calendars and antique car books he would receive on his birthday or Christmas from Bobbi.
He loved listening to Bob Uecker broadcast the Milwaukee Brewers game. He also loved watching the Green Bay Packers at the Knights of Columbus Hall and toasting any touchdown with a shot of Crown Royal.
Bob is survived by his daughters: Bonnie (Michael) and Debi (Frank) Dec. He is also survived by grandsons: Michael (Rev. Cathy) and Matthew (Kate) Christman; great-grandsons: Xander, Seb and Declan; also survived by his brother-in-law, Ronnie Burmeister. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his father, Mathew; his mother, Margaret; as well as his siblings, Henry, Dorothy, Margie, Martin, and Maryann.
Memorials can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Visitation at the Funeral Home Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00PM, prayer vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation also on Friday, October 20, 2023, 10:00 to 11:00AM at NATIVITY OF THE LORD, 3672 E. Plankinton Ave, Cudahy, WI 53110, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment at Forest Hill Memorial Park to follow.
