SAVEE, Robert Thayne "Bob" passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove, WI on November 5, 2010, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 14, 1922. Following graduation from Bay View High School in 1940, he served in the US Army as a Signal Corpsman during World War II where he was a pioneer in microwave communication. He participated in every major campaign in Northern Europe Theater of Operations. Following the war, he worked for over 40 years for the Wisconsin Telephone Company , and was very active in the Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his wife Jane Garner of Greendale, his son John, daughter-in-law Maria, and grandchildren Ingrid and Peter of Munich, Germany, dear brother of Beverly J. Boll and brother-in-law of Elaine Savee, and preceded in death by his first wife Betty Ann (nee Bohmann), and his brother, the late Donald T. Savee.
Very special thanks go to the wonderful caregivers and nurses at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove, Vitas, and Dr. Mitchell Carneol.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday November 18, 2010 from 6-7 P.M. at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church 8633 W. Becher Street in West Allis. Memorial Service to follow at 7 P.M.
