It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Marie Hansen, peacefully at home in her sleep at the age of 92, on May 6, 2025, born on August 13, 1932, in Keshena, Wisconsin. Rita, a beloved mother, homemaker, and cherished friend, left this world peacefully at her home in Suring, Wisconsin, where she created countless memories and nurtured the lives of those around her.

Rita led a life filled with love and laughter. Known for her incredible baking skills, she delighted family and friends with countless batches of cookies, always sharing her treats with a generous spirit. She had a passion for nurturing not only through her cooking but also through her many hobbies. Whether it was meticulously cutting grass, shoveling snow, or snipping flowers from her yard, Rita was a woman who found joy in staying busy and engaged with the world around her and having a lot of people around her.

Her creativity shone through in her sewing projects, where she poured her heart into making handmade gifts. Rita's sense of humor was infectious; she had a knack for making jokes out of any situation, filling the lives of those around her with warmth and happiness.

Rita is survived by her devoted daughter, Dawn Merritt; her loving son, Kevin Hansen; her brother, Buck Moesch; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who will carry her spirit and values forward. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and a love for life's simple pleasures.

Cryptside service for Rita will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Forest Home Cemetery. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in honoring her vibrant spirit and the joyful memories shared.

In celebration of Rita's life, we encourage those attending to share their favorite stories and recollections, as she embraced every moment with a smile and a joke. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.

Rita was preceded in death by: her husband, Lloyd Hansen; her parents Oscar Moesch and Elaine Moesch; her brothers, DuLou Moesch and Larry Moesch; her sister, Dixie Mattes nee Moesch; and her son, Wayne Hansen Sr.
