June 17, 1925 – January 28, 2024
Richard Eugene Spangler, Sr., went home to his Savior on January 28, 2024, at the age of 98.
Richard was pre-deceased by his wife of 51 years, Dolores, and is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lois.
Richard and Dolores were loving parents to the late Richard Spangler, Jr., the late Kurt (Sherry) Spangler, Gail (Lee) Krecklow, Robin (Nancy) Spangler, and Gwen (John Berg) Spangler; adoring grandparents to Lee (Cindy) Krecklow, Katie Krecklow, Jacob (Jessica) Zausch, the late Robin C. Spangler, Jesse Spangler, Courtney (Cody Mussehl) Miller, Morgan Spangler, Lauren (Cory) Tutaj, Nathan (Melissa) Spangler, and Austin (Nikki) Spangler. He was GP (great-grandpa) to 19 great-grandchildren.
Richard's extended family included: step-daughter Jane (David) Eberhardt, and Susan (William) Prentice; grandchildren Amy (William) Pavlakus, and Jillian (Keith) Hout; and 4 great-grandchildren: his loving nephew and nieces, Steven (Beth) Zambo, Marcy Spangler, and Jeri (the late Robert) Spangler; step-niece Karen (Dennis) Cetnarowski.
A proud veteran of WW2, Richard served in the Army Cavalry, then was stationed in India as a radio tower repairman. After retiring from a 40+ year career at Hotpoint, he served as an Auxiliary Officer with the Milwaukee Police Department.
Visitation and Service, Friday, February 2, at St. Jacobi Ev. Lutheran Church, (8605 W. Forest Home Avenue, Greenfield, WI) from 4:00-7:00PM. Service at 7:00PM. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery (614 E Howard Ave, Milwaukee, WI) on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jacobi Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
