He graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN and was ordained on June 19, 1960 in Albany, OR. Pastor Heins faithfully served at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay; Zion Lutheran in Sister Bay; First Lutheran in Janesville; St. Paul Lutheran in Racine; Ascension Lutheran in Milwaukee; St. Peter Lutheran in Fennimore and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. Following his retirement in 1999, Pastor Heins continued his ministry as an interim Pastor at 5 congregations.
