Rev. Richard A. Liska
Born to eternal life on Thursday, March 31, 2022, age 77 years. A native of Cudahy, Fr. Richard was born on October 16, 1944, beloved son of the late Anton and Virginia (nee Steinert) Liska. Loving brother of Dennis (Sally Ann) Liska Sr. Cherished uncle of Jill (Daniel) Mayer, Lynn (Paul Verdu) Liska, Karen Colt and Dennis (Rachael) Liska Jr. Dear great-uncle of Luke, Nicholas, Grace, Jack, Anthony, Michael, Brett, Violette and Hudson. Further survived by other family, friends and brother priests.
Father Richard studied for the priesthood at St. Francis Minor and Major Seminary. He was ordained on May 23, 1970 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee and celebrated his first Mass on May 31, 1970 at his home parish, St. Joseph Church in Cudahy. His parish assignments during his almost 42 years of active ministry until his retirement in 2012 included, St. Roman Church, Milwaukee; Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, St. Francis; St. Helen Church, Milwaukee; St. Joseph Church, Cudahy; St. Matthew Church, Milwaukee; St. Agnes Church, Butler and St. Stephen Church, Milwaukee and Oak Creek. In his free time, he enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes with his brother and family, traveling around the world, gardening, and cooking for family and friends. He was a lifetime member of South Shore Yacht Club.
Visitation on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 4:00-7:00 PM at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1441 W. Oakwood Road, Oak Creek, prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation also on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 10:00-11:00 AM. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 11:00 AM, the Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee presiding. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Father Richard's memory to your Church, donations to a local food pantry or Mass offerings are deeply appreciated.
