Born To Eternal Life on Saturday, December 8, 2007 age 68 years. Loving husband of Nancy (nee Prasser) for 46 years. Dear father of Charles (Cathy). Special grandfather of Thomas, Sara and Alex. Dear son of Mary and the late Wallace Leffingwell. Fond brother of Robert (Victoria) and Leslie (Kate). Dear Brother-in-law of Dolores and Jerry Prasser. Also survived by nieces, nephews, many dear friends and fellow chaplains. Visitation at the Funeral Home TUES. Dec. 11th from 4-7 PM. followed by a Service of Remembrance at 7 PM. Private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Gene graduated with a B.A. from the University of Dubuque, IA in 1963; a B.D. from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in June of 1966; ordained by the Milwaukee Presbytery PC (USA) in 1966; Gene's pastorships included St. Paul, MN, Cedar Rapids, IA and West Allis, WI from 1966 to 1976. In 1973-1974 he received a Pastoral Counseling Fellowship, Division of Religion and Psychiatry, Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas, in 1976 a M.S.T. from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. From 1976-2002 he was involved in Pastoral Care at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center as Resident Chaplain, Staff Chaplain and Supervisor of Pastoral Care and managed Pastoral Education. From 2002-2005 he was the CPE Supervisor at Alexian Village of Milwaukee. In 1992 he received the Distinguished Service Award-Wisconsin Division of American Cancer Society, 2002 Distinguished Chaplain's Award, Chaplaincy Division of Wisconsin Council of Churches, the 2006 Distinguished Service Award, Association for Clinical Pastoral Education-North Central Region.
