Obituary

Went to be with his Lord on August 2, 2008. He was born July 16, 1921 to Oscar and Eugenia (nee Babb) Goeb in Milwaukee, WI. John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dallas M. (nee Hawkinson) and children; Kristine (William) Zibell, David (Dawn) Goeb and Angela (Dan) Webster, grandchildren; Jennifer (Art) Karsel, Brian (Kelly) Zibell, Stephanie Kay Zibell, Scott (Stephanie Ann) Zibell, David and Sam (Jenna) Goeb, Adam and Josh (Bianca) Stefanko, Amy (Jeremiah) Blomberg, Michael, Marc, Peter and Kristen Webster, and great-grandchildren: Hayley, Alexa, Hayden, Evangeline, Evelyn, Aydah and Sutton, who brought him great delight. He graduated from Marquette University 1950 and later attended Nashotah House Theological Seminary. A veteran of WWII, John proudly served as a First Sgt. in the 3rd Marine Division, seeing combat on Bougainville and Iwo Jima. John retired from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago in 1990. He served the Lord as deacon of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for 47 years and was honorary Canon of All Saint's Cathedral . He also served as Chaplain of the Healing Order of St. Luke. Visitation will be SUN, August 10th, 2-4 PM at ST. LUKE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH 3200 So. Herman St. Requiem Eucharist at 4 PM. Private Interment and Military Honors at Arlington Park Cemetery.
