Obituary

Gard, Raymond J. Raymond J. Gard of Sun Prairie, WI passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2018. He was born to Alphonse and Lorraine (Schuster) Gard on April 17, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, St. Francis Seminary, Don Bosco High School, and Marquette University. He served in the U.S. Army before being honorably discharged in 1964. During his service in the Army, he excelled in his study of Aircraft Engine Mechanics. Ray was a very humble man who loved and cherished his family. There were many friends who were drawn to Rays gentle and caring nature. He was a teacher of spiritual matters and life events to many people. Ray very generously volunteered his time at the local churches and to University students. Raymond was a faith and grace-filled man who always saw life as an adventure. Ray is survived by his siblings: Gerald (Shirley) Gard; Suzanne (Jay) Sampson; Dorothy (Robert) De Grace; David (Julia) Gard; Barbara Gard; Jane (Ross Heister) Meyer; Mary (Thomas) Martin; Bernadette Gard and special cousin Mary Beth (James) Pelletier. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Lorraine Gard and his sister-in-law Elaine Gard. Memorial Visitation SATURDAY, March 24, 2018 from 9-10 AM at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1720 E. Norwich Ave, Milwaukee. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Inurnment at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery to follow. The Gard family would like to express a special thank you to Mary Kay Fields and the staff at Sturdy Oaks Adult Family Home for the wonderful care given to Ray on a daily basis for more than 15 years. We also are grateful for the excellent care received since the early 1970s from William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital staff as well as Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care staff over the past year. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Sturdy Oaks Adult Family Home in Sun Prairie WI and Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care in Madison WI.
