Phyllis was an avid contester. She won several contests over the years. She was a good ceramic painter as many of her relatives can attest to. She also loved indoor gardening and had a particular fondness for cactus. She couldn't resist a good bargain and would find rummage sales to take us to every weekend. She was also a deeply devout Catholic and said her prayers every night, as long as she was able on her knees. She was most noted for having the type of personality that was compassionate and empathetic. Although she had four daughters of her own, she had many other people in her life that were close to her. It was not unusual for her to receive a birthday card that was signed from your fifth daughter. She had a zest for life. She had a way of making people feel at home when they came to visit her. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, who will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Dr Thomas E Hastings, Dr Diane Zowicke, hospice nurse Kathy and all the wonderful nurses at Aurora St Luke's medical center and other staff that took such good care of her throughout the years. We are deeply grateful and will forever be in your debt. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army are appreciated.
