Peter J. Michaud found peace on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born to Irving and Elvera (Girlie) Michaud on July 21, 1958 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Peter was the fifth of eight children: Bridgid, Kate, Mary, Joe, Bernie, Matt, and Nick. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School and Regis High School where he was an accomplished track runner. He was a proud alumnus of Regis.
As a young adult, Peter spent much of his years traveling, driven by a lifelong passion of exploration and geography. After spending a summer in England, he returned home to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he embarked on his journey into teaching. Upon graduation from UW, Peter relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota and began his distinguished teaching career. It was there that he met the love of his life, Connie.
Both exemplary educators, Peter and Connie began a life in Atlanta, Georgia and their shared longing for adventure brought them countless treasured memories. They then returned to their midwestern roots and established themselves in Milwaukee where they raised their two wonderful daughters, Clare and Lizzie.
Throughout his illustrious teaching career, Peter received several accolades for his work. His love for education and travel served as the inspiration for his involvement with the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance. Always a student of his craft, Peter endeavored to further enrich his teaching career through experiential stays in Germany and Japan.
Peter was a devoted environmentalist and an avid outdoorsman. He was a proud steward of the planet and dedicated much of his time to gardening while emphasizing the importance of planting trees and composting. He and his family enjoyed camping, hiking and exploring the many wonders of nature.
He found great inspiration in Vince Lombardi, prioritizing God, family and the Green Bay Packers. His fandom landed him as a finalist for the Packer Fan Hall of Fame. Peter wasn't as interested in winning the prize; instead, the connections he made as a finalist were his true reward.
Even throughout his illness, Peter remained true to himself. He found solace in music and prayer and joy in family and friends. Even on the lowest of days, he remained grateful to those caring for him, exemplifying grace, perseverance and his unwavering curiosity. He is deeply missed and his spirit lives on.
