On June 9th, the World lost Patricia Joslyn (Adams) at the age of 83. She was born in Milwaukee, WI.
Pat was Married to Robert J. Joslyn for 27 years until his early passing. She was a great Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to all
Pat was a highly creative person from her witty gifts, custom cake decorating for our birthdays and family events, sewing clothes for us kids (and our Barbie's) and an incredible painter - oil and watercolor.
She was a stay-at-home mother who entertained her children in many creative ways, birthday parties, games, pictures in our lunches on the napkins, making our childhood magical in every way.
She started her working life after her children were older at the Milwaukee school lunch programs, so she could be home when her children were out of school. Pat worked at FotoMat for a few years and was even robbed at gun point. She was clever enough to hide a second bag of cash, so he did not get it all. It soon became store policy to do so. Later she worked for the Milwaukee Library System. Traveling to many branches she worked at Center St, Teutonia, Good Hope Rd, Llewellyn and finally ended up at the Downtown Main Library. She had many deep and long-lasting friendships throughout her career.
Pat lived with her daughter Jackie and retired to take care of Leo, and Becky's children Adam and Zachary. She was always there when needed and had time to spoil them all. She loved her grandchildren, many summers' spent swimming in the pool, going to McDonald's playsets to burn off energy and much more. Grandma was always supportive of all three, encouraging them in their choices to be who they were. She always carried lots of pictures of them and their accomplishments.
Pat was a Catholic girl who had a group of friends that lasted her entire life- they were family to us growing up and all of them loved and supported each other. Rosalie Daniels, Judith Ring, Ruth Lampe, and Cynthia Kranz. They met frequently for lunch and laughs. Even as Pat's Alzheimer's progressed, she was always included and remained part of the group.
Survived by Brother and Sister - William Adams and Bernadette Schmutlzer there was always love and a deep bond. Saturday visits spent at Bernie's to share their life and once Pat became unable to drive and get around, she would pick up Pat to take her out to see the latest movies. The last time they were all together at Aunt Sue's house was for a cookout which was good for the soul for all of them to be together.
The last few years of her life she resided at Elizabeth Residence in Oak Creek, WI. an assisted living facility. They took great care of her and we appreciate everyone who participated in her day-to-day life. They had annual Summer and Christmas celebrations for the residents and families. Pat always had the largest groups with friend and families attending- people were always drawn to her.
Pat is survived by her daughters and grandchildren respectively, Jackie Joslyn (Leo Ronczka) and Becky Joslyn-Garside (Adam and Zachary Garside) Her Sister, Bernadette Schmutzler (Late -Ron) Her Brother, William Adams (sister-in law Susie).
