Neal D. Grunert

Passed away at the age of 86 on November 24, 2023. Beloved husband and best friend of Joyce R. (nee Kempinski) for 62 years. Loving "Dad" of Gregory Allen and his "precious Shadow Ava". Fond and loving brother of Joanne Bogan. Fond brother-in-law of Jerry C. Kempinski. Neal was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary, in-laws Carl J. and Helen T. Kempinski, brothers; John, Fritz, Mike and George, and his sisters; Loretta and Molly. He was further survived by numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbors and friends.

Neal was born in Addison, Ohio, March 28, 1937. He graduated from Bay View High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. After the military he became a meat cutter and was later promoted to District Meat Specialist, where he managed all the Corporate Meat Departments-Godfrey Fleming Company (Sentry Food Stores) throughout the State of Wisconsin for over 48 years. In his younger years he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He loved his lake home in Mosinee which he made as a beautiful getaway for family and friends. He had a demure presence, unlimited talents, a quiet sense of humor, but above and beyond was his boundless love-he always had time to share!

Memorial Visitation Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Parish, 6060 West Loomis Rd. Greendale. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Fellowship to follow.

Neal will be laid to rest Friday, June 14, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at  Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Please meet directly at the cemetery office inside the main entrance first between 12:30 P.M.-12:45 P.M. From there, everyone will proceed to the outdoor committal shelter for committal prayers and military honors at 1:00 P.M.
