N. Loutrelle McIver Williams (88), loving mother of Kristie Gay Hamilton and Melani Leigh Hamilton, passed from this life peacefully, though too soon, August 26, 2026, in Milwaukee, Wis. Born on a farm near Tishomingo, November 18, 1937, Loutrelle grew up on Pennington Creek and Mill Pond, the third youngest of her nine brothers and sisters. She married Marvin Hamilton in March 1956, graduated from Tishomingo High School, and attended Murray College, Tishomingo, where she played the lead in Murray's production of "Dial M for Murder," graduating with an associate's degree. While raising her two young daughters, she attained a bachelor's degree in English Education at East Central State College. She began her first career as a high school English teacher at a school on top of a mountain in Pierce, Idaho, in 1963. She went on to teach English, speech, and drama in public schools across Oklahoma including: Gate, Davenport, Wilson, Randlett and Cache. Committed to helping people facing significant life challenges, Loutrelle embraced a second career as a social worker at Western Oklahoma State Hospital, Fort Supply where she was married to Don Williams, and later at the Jim Taliaferro Mental Health Center in Lawton. Upon retirement, Loutrelle took up residence for some years near her brother Mike in Antlers, Okla., before moving to Pryor, Okla. where she found a wonderful community of friends through her volunteer work with the United Methodist Women (UMW).  In 2017, wishing to be close to her daughter Melani, Lou moved to Tulsa, and, for the last four years of her life, she graced Kristie and Melani each with her company for six months out of the year.

While her love for her hometown Tishomingo never waned, Loutrelle was, from a young age, always interested in meeting new people and exploring new places. She travelled with friends and family to many places in and out of the region and had a favorite trip to Montreal, Canada, with her girls in 2016. She was a voracious reader of history, literature, and detective fiction and a writer of poetry.  Hers was a life well lived, she herself a model of strength, versatility, tenderness, and wit for her beloved children.

Loutrelle is preceded in death by her father Gerald Ivan McIver, her mother Margaret Rebecca McIver (neé Eldredge), her sisters Geraldine, Claire, and Gay, and her brothers O.S., Van, Jack, Pat, and Mike McIver. She is survived by her daughters Kristie Hamilton of Milwaukee, Wis., and Melani Hamilton, of Tulsa, her husband Keith McArtor, their children Victoria, Jonathan, and Abigail, and her loving brother William McIver and sister-in-law Barbara McIver, along with cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held in Tulsa for family and friends at a later date.  Interment in Tishomingo.
