Obituary

Nancy Ann Meyer, a beloved mother, grandmother, and compassionate nurse whose care for others touched countless hearts, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on March 16, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nancy attended St. Ann's Grade School and graduated from Pius XI High School. As a single mother, she put herself through nursing school at Milwaukee Area Technical College, earning her registered nurse degree in 1983. Nancy's more-than-35-year nursing career was marked by her unwavering dedication to her patients, whom she cared for well into her 70s.

Nancy's greatest joy was socializing and cooking for friends and family. She maintained friendships from all stages of her life and her schedule was often full of family parties, luncheons with friends, and more recently, various events with her condo neighbors. A passionate traveler, Nancy explored France, China, Tibet, Hawaii, and, in a cherished memory, visited the Grand Canyon a few years ago with her son, grandson, and nephew. In her free time, Nancy loved learning about the Civil War, was an avid reader, attended yoga classes, and watched crime shows. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Nancy loved recounting her unforgettable dance with Packers' legend Ray Nitschke at a local bar in her youth.

Nancy is survived by her son, Mike Meyer; her grandsons, Nicholas Sharafinski (married to Nicole), Alex Meyer, and Jacob Meyer; her nephew, Jason Youngwirth; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Verna (Sikora) Potocky; and her sister, Judith (Potocky) Youngwirth.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at Prasser-Kleczka Funeral Home Bay View Chapel, 3275 S. Howell Ave., Milwaukee, WI, on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hunger Task Force, in honor of her love of feeding family and friends. https://www.hungertaskforce.org//
