Sunday, September 2, 2018. Age 65 years. Beloved husband for 42 years of Sharon (nee Zwicke). Loving dad of Julie (Mike) Dlugi and Jim (Beth) Downey. Cherished grandpa of Caleb, Aidan, Michael and Gavin; Kelly and Rory. Treasured son of Marilyn and the late Tom Downey. Dear brother of Charlene Downey, Donna Szweda, Carla Krueger and Shari Slamka. Mike is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters,-in-law, nieces, nephews, co-workers, friends and his friends from Dysfunctional Veterans. Visitation at the Funeral Home Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4-7 PM and Friday from 11AM - 12 Noon. Funeral Services at 12 Noon with Military Honors to follow. Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He spent his working career as an over the road truck driver having logged over 2 million Safe Miles. He was a long time member and former Union Steward of Teamsters Local #200. He was a kind hearted man, who always looked to pay forward and back good deeds. Above all else Mike was a devoted husband and father and despite a challenging work career made time for his family whenever he could.
