On May 15, 2023, Michael J Laven found peace at the age of 71 years young. Michael was born in Milwaukee on February 22, 1952, a birthdate also shared by his daughter Colleen. Michael is survived by his beloved companion and fiancé Carol Kloskey and her family; daughter Kimberly and grandchildren Alyssa, Tiffany, Anna Marie and Robert. Loving father to Anthony Laven (Winnie), Stephanie Schlotz (John), Colleen Reiser (John), and Phyllis Hand. Endearingly referred to as "silly grandpa" by Jacob & Justin Schlotz and Chase & Chantel Reiser. Also survived by sister-in-law Eileen Laven, nieces, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless dear friends. Michael was predeceased by his father Roland Laven, mother Phyllis Dombrowski, step-mother Olga Migdal and brother Richard Laven.

When Michael wasn't walking his three dogs (Benji, Buddy and Bailey) you could find him perusing a local antique shop, flea market or enjoying his lifelong collection of records, phonographs and music boxes in his beautifully restored Milwaukee mansion. Michael loved sharing this passion with others and could recite from memory details of every item in his collection. Michael never missed a day of work and was always busy tinkering with something. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his sparkling smile, his goofy antics, gift of gab, bear hugs, kindness and ability to strike up a conversation and make friends with anyone.

Michael lived life with a 'young at heart' mentality. Michael worked hard for what he had and knew a good deal when he saw one; earning the nickname 'Cheap Mike'.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church located at 3635 S. Kinnickinnic Ave, St. Francis, WI 53235. Visitation from 9:00AM - 11:00AM followed by memorial service and Christian burial.
