After battling Merkel Cell Carcinoma, Michael Monroe Hill finally found peace in this world and transitioned to the next, on August 22nd, 2024, at age 74. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jesse and Jeanette (nee D'Acquisto) Hill, and is survived by his devoted spouse of 38 years, Paul Kaneshiro, his sisters Robin (Mark) Waeltz and Pam (Dean) Kothrade, and his brother Jeffrey Hill. Also survived by nieces Kristal Waeltz and Nicole (Zoran) Saric, nephew Jamison (Holly) Waeltz, his 7 great-nieces and nephews, his adored centenarian maternal aunts, Frances Scott and Leona Shahani, and numerous cousins and many dear friends, all of whom Mike loved so very much he withheld details of his struggle to spare them the futility of worry.

Words fail to express the immense gratitude for the amazingly exceptional care and expertise overwhelmingly provided to Mike and Paul in navigating Mike's rare and complex case by the countless doctors and nurses of multiple disciplines, specialties and ranks and the entire staff at UW Health Hospital in Madison, especially his oncologist there, Dr. Vincent Ma and his team, especially Jennifer Pleva, as well as all of the staff at Interim Healthcare Hospice, in particular, his nurse Erin. These healthcare workers are the heroes of Mike's journey. The kindness, compassion and humanity shown by these angels walking beside us will never be forgotten.

A memorial to Mike's life will be held at Christ Church, UCC, 915 East Oklahoma Ave on Saturday, September 28th, 2024. Visitation will be from 9AM to 10:30AM, with a church service at 10:30AM to 11:30AM. A procession to Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee will follow, the graveside inurnment will take place at approximately 12PM to 12:15PM.
