Born To Eternal Life on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 56. Loving husband of Beverly Bersch (nee Thorne) for 15 years. Son of Mary and the late Dennis Sr. Bersch. Brother of Dennis Jr. "Den" Bersch (The Honorable Clare Fiorenza), Frederick (Karen) Bersch and Joseph (Carolyn) Bersch. Uncle of Madeline (Ben) Fuja, Elizabeth, the late Margaret "Maggie", Paul (Anastacia)Stevens , Patrick (Lynn) Bersch, Katherine (Ryan) Kautzer, and Peter Bersch. Further survived by his father-in-law, Donald and the late Carol Thorne, brother-in-law Terry (Lynn), Bradley (Julie) Thorne, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mike was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (the most aggressive type of brain tumor) on August 4, 2016. He never allowed that to stand in the way of living his life. One of his famous quotes was, "This is my first brain tumor". Over the last six years, Mike felt his purpose was to live life to the fullest, and to ensure everyone around him saw the positive in life. He often accomplished this through humor and partaking in a great craft beer.

Mike was the co-founder of Louie's Last Regatta, which is one of the largest fundraising regattas in the United States, benefiting Children's Wisconsin. He famously proposed to his wife Beverly, during one of the actual races. He also created the Maggie Bersch Memorial as part of the fundraiser, in memory of his niece who passed away from Leukemia at the age of 8.

Mike attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Design. He also earned his Masters' credits in courses that he took at the University of Milwaukee. He later attended Alverno College, where he earned his education and teaching license. Mike was passionate about photography, motorcycles, special education and sailing. He worked as one of the lead photographers for Empire Photography, where he specialized in High School portrait and sports. He also was archivist for Brook Stevens. Mike loved to sail at the Milwaukee Yacht Club and was proud to work alongside Jerry Sullivan, where he helped maintain the sailboats and was a crew member at times. He also successfully created racing programs with inexperienced crew members, in which they won many races and gained confidence. Mike was a craft beer enthusiast and a proud member of the Milwaukee Ale House mug club, owning mug #1! The crew of the Dirty Vicar - his beloved sailboat - were brew masters and installed a keg on the boat.
