(nee Gitzel) Arrived home Wednesday, October 22, 2008, age 87 years. Loving wife for 61 years of Walter Schmidt, whom she met at the St. Lucas Senior Young People. Beloved mom of Russell (Nancy) Schmidt and Carolyn (David Jr.) Fons. Proud grandma of Jonathan (Carrie) Brown Schmidt, Melissa (Jason) Luebke, Andrew Schmidt, Emily Fons, Elisabeth Fons and Claire Fons Dear sister of Ruth Gitzel, Carol (Robert) Anderson and the late Dorthea (Eldon) Smithback. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Marion was a life long member of St. Lucas Ev. Lutheran Church. She reflected her faith by being active in Ladies Guild, Ladies Aid, Special Service, Wisconsin Lutheran Child and Family Service Guild, Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, and the Central African Medical Mission. She will be remembered for her love of swimming at the South Shore YMCA and her love of ice cream. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Central African Medical Mission or the church.
