A long-standing resident of St. Francis. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Stancher) to whom he was married for 65 years, passed away on May 11, 2018, one day before his 95th birthday. He was the devoted father to Joanne (William) Hicks), James (Kim), and Dean (Carmen); grandfather to fourteen; and great-grandfather to thirteen. He is survived by brothers Enzo of New Berlin and Gaston (Faye) of Sun City West, AZ.
Mario was born in Bay View on May 12, 1923. Childhood polio precluded service in the Military. However, he met his future wife while a supervisor at Cutler Hammer where he and Mary both worked and participated in the WWII effort. Married in September of 1946, Mary forever remained the love of his life. Mario earned a degree from Marquette University and after graduation, toured Mexico for several months. His chosen profession was international sales and marketing and over his storied career, he rose to positions of Vice-President of local companies and visited virtually every major city on every continent. In addition to English, he was fluent in four languages. Both before and during his retirement, he served as the primary caretaker first to his mother and later, caregiver to Mary, who died in March of 2011 after a decade-long struggle with Alzheimers. His friends were many and life-long, and only love and dedication to his family exceeded the love he had for his friends.
Mario golfed into his 80s and he was a passionate follower of the Packers and Badgers, and of Marquette basketball. The medical reports will suggest that he passed away as a result of declining health on Friday the 11th. But his family will suggest that he passed away, simply because he had done all that he could in his life.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice in Marios memory are appreciated.
