Van Handel, Marie M. (nee Ginster) Born To Eternal Life on Monday, December 3, 2007. Age 94 years. Beloved wife of the late Eugene T. Van Handel. Loving mother of Gerry (Janet) and Tom (Ginger). Dear grandmother of Mike (Kelly), Jay (Leah Krider), Tim (Tina), Carrie and Angie. Dear great-grandmother of Benjamin, Patrick, Eleanore, Brennyn and Reese. Cherished sister of Helen Van Handel and the late Richard Ginster. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marie was a life long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in St. Francis and an active member and officer of the Christian Mothers Society. Her religion was very important to her and she was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and daily recitation of the rosary. She enjoyed bowling as well as golfing with her husband, Eugene, in the "Duffin' Doubles" and with her friends in the Grant Park Women's Golf League. Over the years she was involved in ceramics and was a cook 'Par Excellance', often trying daring new recipes on her guests with great success. Marie was the original Martha Stewart creating craft items from common materials normally discarded. She was an expert gardener and her love of flowers was second only to the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated and caring staffs of the Villa at St. Francis, The Terrace at St. Francis and the 6 East health care providers of St. Francis Hospital. Memorials will be distributed to Marie's favorite charities. Visitation FRIDAY, December 7, 2007 9 – 10:30 AM at SACRED HEART OF JESUS CHURCH, 3635 S.
