Maria Isabel Medina

(née Sosa) of Milwaukee, WI passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on Sunday, December 15th 2024 at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of Jose A. Medina. Loving Mother of 12: Jose (Gail) Medina, the late Oscar Alejandro, Marta (Nieves) Acosta, Olga (Juan) Saldivar, Manuel (Melinda) Medina, Noemi (Ronald) Fohr, Irma (Cesar) Esparza, Luciana (Esteban) Medina, Eddie (Magdalena) Medina, Javier (Alejandra) Medina, Patricia (Osvaldo) Sanchez and Juan (Maria) Saldivar.

Dear grandmother (35) and great grandmother (32) of Jose (Brayden, Mason, Holden and Hudson), Aneriz, Vanessa (Alyna and Azekiel), Yannet (Quinn), Miguel, Cristina (Jonathan and Christopher), Lizette (Abraham and Nathan), Maria (Izabella, Melanie and Fredy), Pascual, Jose (Amina and Jayden), Manuel (Manuel, Mykel, Mikhai, Marrielle, Maino, Kyh, Zya, Malena and Mariah), Alicia (Rowen), Manuel, Alex (Lola and Dominic), Kristela (Isaiah, Olivia and Leo), Jose (Lorenzo), Isabella, Aaron, Cesar, Mireya, Briana, Maximiliano, Eva, Eliana, Eduardo, Esteban, Elias, Osvaldo, Mya, Natalie, Adriel, Sophia, Samantha, Stella and Sebastian.

Maria is survived by her siblings Maria A Sosa, Jose Sosa, Maria B Ortiz, Miguel Sosa and Clara Sosa. She was preceded in death by her parents Maximiliano and Maria De Jesus Arteaga-Sosa and siblings Esperanza, Felix, Felipe and Adelaido. Further survived by other family and friends.

Maria was born on June 18th 1945 in Tepechitlán, Zacatecas (Mexico). She was married to Jose on October 10, 1966. They began raising their family in Mexico until 1975 when Maria and Jose began the search for a better life in United States. It was 1977 that Maria, Jose and their 5 oldest children moved to Milwaukee. She spent most of her life raising her children and being an active grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life Maria enjoyed stitching and sewing. She was a longtime active member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Later in life Maria enjoyed traveling and her yearly visits to California to visit her now late mother and siblings. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, spending time with family is what was most important to Maria.

Visitation at the Funeral Home Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4 PM - 8 PM. Prayer service at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 9 AM at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 723 W Washington St. Milwaukee. Entombment to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
