Margrette E.
Trotter
Jul 30, 1936 — Jul 4, 2026
Margrette Ellen Trotter passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 89.
Margrette was born on July 30, 1936, in Watonga, Oklahoma. Throughout her life, she touched countless hearts with her strength, wisdom, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She believed in treating others with kindness, offering encouragement, and reminding those around her that every person deserved to be seen, heard, and loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Esau and Etta Mae Trotter; her daughter, Maureen Annette Young; her son, Darrin Keith Richardson; and her grandsons, Joseph Young and De'Angelo Richardson.
Margrette is survived by her children, Cheri Hughes (Jerome), Brian Richardson, Diedra Carlson (Joel), Rhonda Ronsman (Mark Zolecki), and Sean Hohensee (Jen). She will also be remembered by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
We thank Ericka Thomas and Jessica Fennell for the care they provided to "Auntie." They spent time with her, shared meals, and made sure she felt supported and comfortable. They helped her stay connected with family and were there for her when she needed reassurance. They never missed a birthday or holiday and made sure she knew she was loved. We appreciate their care and dedication and for answering the call to serve in this way.
If Margrette could leave one final message with those she loved, it would be this:
"Be kind. Listen more than you talk. Hold yourself accountable. Make sure your words and actions are intended to bring healing and hope-not harm or hurt. And above all else, when you don't know where to turn, turn to Him."
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
In keeping with Margrette's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Janus College Preparatory Arts Academy, a local school dedicated to providing high-quality arts education to underserved Milwaukee youth.
