Linda Mary Chavez (nee Galvan)
December 19, 1941 - July 30, 2025
Linda Chavez, 83, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in 1941 to Marcos and Maria (Espitia) Galvan in Milwaukee and lived in the Bay View area for much of her life. She attended Walter Allen Elementary School and South Division High School. Linda married Peter Chavez of Milwaukee in Waukegan, Illinois, in 1963.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Peter, parents Marcos and Maria Galvan, brothers David, Robert, Anthony "Tony" Galvan, and sister Margaret "Rita" Galvan.
She is survived by her sister Christine "Tina" Galvan and her children Arthur (Faith) Chavez, Diana Chavez, Laura (Kurt) Knoll, Christine (Kurt) Mazzoni, Steven (the late Kendra) Chavez, and Matthew (Oliver Johnson) Chavez. She is further survived by her grandchildren Kurstin, Rayna, Mark, Kurtis, Cameron, Lydia, and Alex, her great-grandchildren Axel and Colette, and her nieces and nephews.
Linda loved her family and was especially close to her daughters. She sacrificed a lot to raise her six children.
She had many interests, including a lifelong love for true crime stories and scary movies, and she particularly enjoyed reading Ann Rule books among other authors. She enjoyed chatting with her family about celebrities from back in the day, the movies or TV shows they appeared in, and who they married or dated. Linda also loved collecting and customizing jewelry, which she proudly wore to family gatherings and often shared with her daughters. She loved decorating for Halloween and Christmas and enjoyed puzzle books, especially word searches. She enjoyed popular music and was an avid fan of Cher, Tina Turner, Roy Orbison and Fats Domino.
While Linda's body began to slow down in recent years, she remained mentally sharp, engaged, fun, and feisty up to the very end. She was truly loved and will be sorely missed.
We love you, Ma!
