Linda Lee (nee DiDio) Becker, 76, passed away on April 26 2021, following a courageous battle against lymphoma. Linda was born in Milwaukee on April 7, 1945 to Otto and Myra DiDio. She was raised and lived in the same home until her passing. Linda is preceded in death by her father Otto, mother Myra, and brother Don DiDio.
Linda is survived by her husband Ken and two daughters Rachel (Brad) and Beth (George). Linda ("Gaga" as she was adoringly called) is further survived by her five doting grandchildren - Alyssa (9), Andrik (8), George III (7), Anja (5) and Hugo (1). She loved her grandchildren immensely. This was especially apparent around the holidays when she spent hours preparing her home to entertain them and in the special holiday cards she meticulously crafted by hand over several days and sometimes weeks, always accompanied by an endearing heartfelt message. She loved spending time with her family and wished the days together would never end.
Linda is also survived by her sister Diane Dollak, brother John DiDio, nieces, nephews, her dear friends in her bridge and book clubs, and many neighbors and friends who brought her immeasurable joy.
Linda was a graduate of Bay View High School where she met her husband of 53 years at a spring dance when she was a freshman and Ken a sophomore. After Ken met Linda that evening he told his mother that he "met the girl he is going to marry." Linda was a dedicated Milwaukee Public Schools teacher where she taught both first and third grade students at Elm Creative Arts School over her 30 year career. Linda loved to read and knit. Every winter she made hats, scarves, gloves and blankets for her children and grandchildren that will be treasured for years to come. Cherished memories for her children were the trips she accompanied them on to summer lake homes, New York City, Africa, and Sweden, the countless visits to their homes, and the hours upon hours they spent talking on the phone over the years.
She will forever be remembered as a patient listener who cared deeply about others. Despite her health challenges, she was undeniably positive and maintained an optimistic and courageous spirit. While those who knew Linda will miss her tremendously, there is no denying the positive impact she made and will continue to make for years to come.
Linda's family would like to thank all of her friends, doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals for their continued presence and support over the last four years during her battle with lymphoma.
We love you Mom and will remember you always.
Love,
Rachel and Beth
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Linda's memory are greatly appreciated.
