Lewie signed off on life well lived - despite his hope to celebrate 100 years - on February 17, 2021 at the age of 91. He was a beloved husband for 61 years to Lorraine (nee Wysocki). Cherished father of Kevin (Sandra) Kubesh, Glenna (Mike) Goodwin and Renee (TJ Morley) Kubesh. Proud grandpa of Matthew (Kristen), Adam, Alex (Kaitlin), Nathan and Ian; and Dear great-grandpa of Hadley and Emerson.
Lewie was a retiree of Wisconsin Electric and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a humble man, avid golfer and handyman extraordinaire – who always found a reason for a good brandy. Lewie had a knack for putting people at ease because he was genuinely interested in others. You could always find him in deep conversation with someone at a gathering with both of them enjoying their discussion. He had many and varied interests – camping, reading, tinkering, rope-making, volunteering; and lots of practical habits – biking to work, walking a marathon's distance each week, home car repair. Ever a frugal and practical person, he always found ways to make things happen, like when he made a backyard ice skating rink for the kids or when he jury-rigged window air conditioners into central air. Card playing was a vital part of his life – It didn't seem to matter what game. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and it kept him socially active and mentally sharp.
His devotion to family and tradition started back on the farm in North Dakota with his parents, Frank W. and Anna Kubesh; siblings, Frank Kubesh, Anne Tupa, Julia Schanilec, Angela Jarolimek, Sr. Mary Beth Kubesh SSND and Amy Miskavige. Traditional yearly trips to North Dakota (to every single family member in a 100 mile radius!) were full of good food, lively conversation, harvest and food canning. And any road trips were planned to include visits with relatives and friends along the way. You could always count on Lewie and Lorraine to travel to a party, an extended family wedding, graduation or reunion. After retirement, travel was expanded to include cruises, other countries and bucket-list places like Iceland and Panama.
Visitation on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 9:30-10:45 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 1023 E. Russell Ave., Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Entombment and Military Honors to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immaculate Conception Church are appreciated.

Most certainly, when God in heaven said to him "It's good to see you, Lewie", he definitely replied "It's good to be seen" .
