Born to Eternal Life on Monday, April 30, 2012, age 89 years. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Statz). Dearest brother-in-law of Carol McCann, Julie Lansing, Marjorie (Richard) Craemer and William (Kathleen) Statz. Preceded in death by his parents; Anton and Marie Ode, brothers; Robert and Arnold Ode; parents-in-law, Leonard and Bernadine Statz; brothers-in-law; Henry (Phyllis) Statz, Tom McCann, Richard Lansing. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, brother deacons, other family members and many dear friends.
LeRoy was a World War II veteran proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army as a clerk to General Eisenhower. He was a retiree of Gimbels Department Store. Deacon Ode was ordained into the permanent diaconate on February 6, 1977 by then Archbishop William E. Cousins. During his 35 years as a Deacon he faithfully served the parishes of Ss. Cyril and Methodius, St. Gerard, St. Lawrence all of Milwaukee and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in St. Francis. He proudly and passionately ministered to older adults and to the infirmed. His family would like to thank the staff at Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis for their kindness and care. If desired, memorials may be made to the Interfaith Meditation Room at General Mitchell International Airport, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church or the Diaconate program of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
Visitation at the Funeral Home FRIDAY May 4, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM, Prayer Vigil at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:30 AM at GESU CHURCH, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave., please meet at church at 10:15AM, (Parking available behind church, enter parking lot next to law school off No. 11th St.). Entombment and military honors to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
