Lee was born on April 10, 1935 to Sanfred and Sylvia Kulju in Hancock, Michigan. He spent the first 18 years of his life in the Copper Country and was very proud of his Finnish heritage. He then served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Milwaukee in 1955 and married Florence in 1960. Lee's quiet strength was the foundation of his family. After retiring in 1997 from BAX Global, he and Florence split their retirement years between St. Francis, Florida, and their "camp" on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula. Lee's passion, beyond spending time with Florence and his family, was fishing. He did so every chance that he could, including taking annual trips to Canada. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his https://youtu.be/p8IZro8wMC8walks along Lake Michigan until his recent illness would not allow him to continue to do so. He passed on his great love of the outdoors to his grandchildren. Lee enjoyed watching sports, including his favorites, the Packers, Brewers and Detroit Red Wings. He also attended nearly every game that his grandsons participated in and enjoyed taking his granddaughter on special dates to Seven Bridges and Dairy Queen. Lee was an unassuming volunteer, giving his time and efforts to others. He was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Church, where he served on the church council and was the head usher for many years. He was also active in the St. Francis Lions Club and the American Legion. Lee's family would like to thank the staff of Ascension Hospital in Franklin for their tender care and support in Lee's final days on earth.
