Leonard C. Fons
Found Eternal Peace in the Loving Arms of God on Monday June 20, 2022 age 92. Devoted husband of Patricia J. Fons (nee Kuszewski) for 66 years. Beloved father to the late Lynn M.Fons and Leonard J. Fons. Loving grandfather to Christina Fons. He is survived by his sister Nancy Conforti. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard Fons Sr. (attorney and former state senator) and Marjorie Driscoll, sister Mary Canning and brother Philip Fons.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Leonard's childhood home was on Superior St. He graduated from Bay View High, Marquette University (Business Administration B.S.). He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Leonard was director of Public Relations at Ladish Co. (Cudahy) and Black Hawk Industries (Milwaukee). Leonard moved to New Jersey in 1962 to work for Electronic Associates Inc, a company involved in the Apollo Space Program. Next, Leonard worked for National Lead Industries, a Fortune 500 Company. He commuted to NYC every day for 25 years to support his family. Leonard was a member of Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club and excelled in ocean racing along the Atlantic seaboard aboard his beloved "Wild Fire". His first place winners were many, especially the Annapolis, MD Yacht Club Race. His love of boat racing was shared with his deceased brother Philip Fons.
Leonard loved raising German Shepherds, thoroughbred horse racing, golfing, and grilling steaks while sipping a gin martini. He was an avid gardener who was always willing to share his crop with his neighbors. Every day he read the newspaper and discussed politics with his granddaughter. Leonard had strong Christian values that included going to Mass and giving back to charity. Leonard was a charming man who always had a smile on his face or a joke to make you smile.
Visitation on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 800 Marquette Ave, South Milwaukee, from 10:00 AM-12 Noon. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Interment and Military Honors at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery to follow. If desired, memorials to Milwaukee Rescue Mission are appreciated.
