Obituary

Lawrence R. Prohaska "Larry" On Friday January 13th, Larry finally got his wish and went home to our heavenly Father. He saw the rope that was sent for him from above, grabbed on never let go, he went to be with his mother, father, brother and sister. Now the Prohaska family is finally reunited again in Heaven. Larry was born January 19th, 1938 to William and Helen Prohaska, he had one brother, Gerald Prohaska (Annette), and one sister, Judith Derfus (Dave). All preceded him in death. On September 9th, 1967 he married Margaret Shanahan and together raised their two children John (Barbara) Prohaska and Jill (Todd) Potter. Larry was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. There was nothing Larry wouldn't do for his kids. He was the best! Larry and Marge would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this upcoming September. Larry's finest and proudest moments was when his three grandsons were born. Evan, William and Luciano were blessed to have had such a fruitful and wonderful relationship with their grandpa all these years. In Larry's final moments on earth he was able to tell each grandson how much he loved them, told them to be good, and always listen to their mother and father. Larry was always the life of the party and everyone who met him loved him along with his stories, singing, humor, and lively personality. He was a loyal friend and brother in law and will be missed greatly by his sister in law Audrey Shanahan and brother in law Thomas Shanahan. In heaven he is now reunited with his sister in law Patricia Thompson and brother in law Donald Thompson. He will be greatly missed by his best friends for over 70 years Bill Lesch, his cousin Ron (Pat) Jodat. Bay View was never the same with those three living there! Larry, Ron and Billy will always have a special bond. Larry will also be missed by all the wonderful friends he met at Allen Bradley, where he work there for 35 years and retired in 1997. He truly loved all his work friends and they loved him. Larry is also survived my many relative and friends, who have touched his life in unmeasurable ways. And as only Larry could say: I'M OTTA HERE, bye, and see you all in heaven. The family would like thank all the wonderful medical doctors and nurses through the years at Wheaton, St. Luke's and Zilber Hospice Facility. Thanks for always taking care of our Larry.
